Admin Tool of Tally.ERP 9

In a multi user environment one computer is designated as the License Server and all other computers in the network are designated as License Clients. You can install the License Service for Tally.ERP 9 or opt to have a common license server for multiple products of Tally on a single computer designated as License Server.

The TallyAdmin is an administrative tool that helps in performing the following tasks:

  • Manage  license for a single product or multiple products of Tally on a standalone computer or license server.
  • Convert an existing Hard Lock License from the earlier version of Tally to a Soft Lock License for Tally.ERP 9,
  • Migrate TCP, TSF and ENC files from earlier versions of Tally to a version that is compatible with Tally.ERP 9.

To start the Admin Tool

  • Double click on TallyAdmin.exe

The Tally Admin displays the list of Tally products that are compatible with the current version of the AdminTool and tabs to manage licensing operations for Single User, License Server for Multi-User and Convert files to a format that are compatible with Tally.ERP 9.



License Server

You can Activate or Reactivate a license on the computer designated as the Server for the selected or all the Tally product. The activation, reactivation, update and surrender is the same as discussed earlier. After activating / reactivating the license, the Update and Surrender buttons appear which are discussed below.

  • Click License Server tab
  • The Product drop down list allows you to select the required Tally product.
  • Check Show All License Servers in LAN to list of available license servers on the Local Area Network. The table below displays the names of available license servers, IP Address, Port number used for communication, name of the License Service, License Server Version and the License status. you can select the required License Service displayed

The License Server tab has the following buttons :

  • Activate: You can activate a Single Site or Multi Site license, using this option. The detailed steps for activating a single site and multi site license are discussed in Activating Tally.ERP 9 Single Site and Multi Site respectively.
  • Re-Activate: You can Reactivate a Single Site or Multi Site license using this option. On selecting this option, the Reactivate License screen appears. Enter the site administrator's email id and the password in E-Mail ID of Site Administrator and Password fields respectively. Click Submit. The license is reactivated.



  • Update: Allows you to update the license when you have assigned General/TDL Configuration and when you have renewed/subscribed for Tally.NET
  • Surrender: Allows you to surrender the license so that you can activate it on another computer as required
  • Refresh LS list: Will display the refreshed list of License Servers available on the LAN.
  • Connections List: Will display the list of computer connected to the license server.
  • Proxy Configuration: Will allow the user to configure the proxy server, if required.
Click Proxy Configuration and enter the Proxy Server URL/IP Address  to access the internet.
Enter the required Username and Password in case the proxy server requires authentication
In Connection Timeout provide the duration in seconds for the system to disconnect from the proxy server when it is unable to establish a connection within the specified duration.
Check Use Absolute URL for HTTP Actions to send the complete URL .



Check Show All Licenses in LAN to display the list of Servers available within a Network along with the System Name, IP Address, Port, Service Name and License Status for different products of Tally.

Local License

To Activate or Reactivate a license on a stand alone computer for single user edition of the selected or all the Tally product click Local License Management tab and follow the steps shown:

  • In the Product drop down list select the required product
  • The default License Path is displayed as C:\Tally.ERP9, click on the box provided to change the license file path.
  • Click Activate or Reactivate button to activate a new license or reactivate an existing license.

The Activate, Reactivate and Proxy Configuration buttons are explained in the previous section.



Convert the Hard Lock to a Soft Lock license.


Tally 6.3/Tally 7.2 user can convert the existing Hard Lock license to a Soft Lock License that is compatible with Tally.ERP 9, the Convert button provided in theTallyAdmin tool helps the user in converting the Hard Lock license to Soft Lock License.

To convert an existing Hard Lock license follow the steps shown:

  • Click Convert
  • The Hard Lock to Soft Lock Conversion Form appears displaying the Serial Number from an earlier version of Tally.
  • Enter the required Email ID of the Administrator in Email ID of the Administrator field.
  • Repeat the Email ID of the Administrator in Repeat (EMail ID of the Administrator) field for the purpose of confirmation.



  • Click Submit

On successful conversion of the Hard Lock you will receive an email containing the License Key to unlock the encrypted license file. To read the detailed process to unlock the license file click Unlock License.

In case the Email ID of the Administrator already exists, you need to opt for Licensing Resolution.

License Service

This feature of the Admin tool allows the user to Install, Uninstall or Restart the license service on the computer designated as license server for any of the Multi-User products from Tally.

To manage the License Service on your computer, click License Service Management
In the License Server Path section

  • By default, the License Server Path displays C:\Tally.ERP9, click on the button provided to change the license server path.

In the Ping section


  • In the IP Address/System Name field enter the Name of IP Address of the license server.
  • In the Port field, enter the required Port Number
  • Click Ping to check for connectivity with the license server




The License Service tab has three button namely :

  • Install : Set up/run the license service in the background on the computer designated as Server. On starting the License Service, a message Tally License Server Installed and Started Successfully is displayed.
  • Uninstall : Removes the license service from the Server. On removing the License Service displays a message Tally License Server uninstalled successfully.
  • Restart : Restart the License Server once again. On restarting the license server a message Tally License Server restarted successfully is displayed.

Conversion

  • Conversion: Converts TCP and TSF files from earlier version of Tally 9 to a format compatible with Tally.ERP 9. For more details refer- Migrating TCP Files from Tally 9 to Tally.ERP 9
